Boy, that wasn't so hard. I haven't logged in for so long that I forgot my login name, lol. It didn't come to me until like 6 hours later. Since episode 32 I managed to get my DRK & SAM to 80. Kinda sucked because in both parties I ended up hitting the cap and having to wait a while for my rep to show. I think I stayed for like 20 minutes after maxing out on DRK and around an hour on SAM. That's a lot of missed XP :(.

Aside for that I picked up the level 80 SAM great katana. I think I'm going to go for the +10 to Tachi:Kasha version. Regardless of what I pick it'll be better then the katana I got from sky and have been using on SAM for years. I finished the first stage and I'm going to get started on the second stage before I go to bed since the game will be down for upgrades when I wake up.

Final Fantasy 9 Sucks!

Wow, episode 24. I can't believe I've done so many episodes! I think I might have the 3rd highest episode count out of all Final Fantasy XI podcasts! Don't quote me on that. Sure, my show is only 30 minutes long when all the others are 3 hours but they can still suck it. On this episode of Looking for Party I actually get an invite! It's to a duo party but hey I'll take it. Eitheta from Slyph drops by to chat with me. We probably spend more time talking about Mass Effect then we do FFXI but that is just as well because Mass Effect (2) is awesome! Though this episode is titled "Final Fantasy 9 Sucks", I don't actually feel that way, it's just a joke. Mostly. I hope people enjoy the episode and I'm totally down to have more guests if you are interested.

The audio isn't mixed very well I know. I was far too lazy to manually boost the audio in the spots that needed it. There are also a few curse words in this episode (4 I think), not a lot but normally if I have more then one I edit it out but I didn't do that this time. Sorry. The music at the end is from Clash of the Titans (1981) and the voice clip is from God of War 3.

In game I forgot to mention that I capped my Ninja last week. I think that just leaves BRD and RDM. However will I get a party on those two? I've been totally slacking on getting my sub jobs leveled and I'll need to get on that next month. I want to have everything ready to when the update hits. I've also been messing around with BLM some more. It's about 300 xp for 63 right now. I'd like to get it to 75 pronto and be done with it but looking for party on BLM doesn't usually yield results. I'm doing campaign to get it up but I lost my medal so the xp is terrible right now.

I'm also tempted to get back to leveling SMN since I have Odin and Alexander now. My biggest fear however is that by the time I get it to 75 SE will gimp those summons and I'll be all sad. Time will tell.

Episode 23. 24 coming soon

Yeah, I probably should have done this post like a 2 and a half weeks ago huh? Anyways, Episodes 23 is here! I talk a bit about tossing my linkpearls and doing the Trials of the Magians stuff. Originally I had wanted to do something special for April Fools day but I was too lazy to actually record it ; ;.

As for episode 24, I actually have a guest! Eitheta of the Sylph server (formally a fairy...err from Fairy). We've already recorded the episode so it should be up soon. Just waiting to receive his audio file and I can start putting the podcast together tonight or Wednesday. No clue when the episode will be up. Just depends on how long it takes to edit. He totally outclasses me for the whole so but that works for me. I was afraid the episode would be 90% dead air. We pretty much go all over the place but it was a learning experience and maybe next time I'll be able to steer it a little better.

I also want to plug my other podcast Serial Experiments Gaiden. I recorded a new episode for it in order to talk about Final Fantasy 13. It spoiler full so listen at your own risk! Anways, here is the link to LFP episode 23.

A fresh start

I've been meaning to do it for months but I've finally got around to doing it today.

Wewantrelic is one I've never used but was given to me some time ago

Been a long time coming

I don't really feel sad or happy about it. Darklords Domain are a good group of guys but I'm not just not feeling it anymore. Been in the shell for almost a year and the relic I joined it to get I'll probably never get (Darn you THF hands!!!!). Not to mention attendance has been pretty poor for awhile. When I joined the shell we were loaded with BLMS and WHMS. Our last Dynamis run had like 2 of each, with me being one of the WHMs... Plus, we are rumored to be switching to 7 days a week for awhile at work so I won't be able to attend anything for awhile anyway if that happens (please shoot me). So, out with the old I guess.

I'm not jumping to another shell, at least not at the moment. I may do a Dynamis run with Wewantrelic this weekend but I won't know until I find out which one they are doing and know if I feel like attending. My hope is that they'd be doing Valkrum or Qufim so I can get one step closer to Tavnazia access.

As for what I've been doing in game it's pretty much been Trials of the Magians. I picked the Dagger, Peeler, and embarked on the Dakini with 34 DMG, 190 Delay, 4 STR, and 12 ATT (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/File:Trial021.png) quest line. I was pretty tempted to go after the evasion version to help with farming but then my primal need to hit harder took over. I also considered the 2x attacking dagger but there is no way I'm camping all the NMs so I'll have to pass on that for now.

The first trial was to kill 100 rabbits (trial 16) in pretty much any kind of weather. I knew the Boyahda tree almost always had water or lightning weather so I went out there. I was pretty surprised when I killed the first mob and the game actually told me how many rabbits I had left. Where the heck has this feature been for the last 8 years!? The kills were pretty slow going until I finally managed to get a party with Sigrid and Streak. Streak left pretty early but Sigrid and I kept killing stuff for awhile and I was able to pick up the last few mobs on my own in the morning.

Sigrid was JP and liked calling me Cat Boss in auto translate

The next trial was for killing 100 crabs in fire, light, lightning, or wind weather. I wasted a good chunk of time trying to find a new zone with one of these weather effects but when I get to then the effect would never take place. So, I ended up just going back to the tree and slowly killing 100 crabs all by myself ; ;. Luckily I finally started playing Final Fantasy XIII again which gave me something to do while waiting for the weather effects to change.

For trials 19-20 I went to Cape Terrigan. Sadly but unsurprisingly the fire weather that I needed never activated so I ended up waiting to firesday to start killing the 100 mobs. Luckily I was able to team up with Yuumin for two firesdays in a row to get my kills pretty quickly. Which leads me to trial 20 which I'm currently on. I need to kill 100 crabs in fire weather or on firesday. I've been able to get zero help on this one so it's been just me and my NPC wacking away at crabs. I currently only have 48 to go. I was hoping to get half of that taken care of this morning and the rest on Tuesday but maintainece has reared its ugly head so that won't be happening.

Guess that's about it. I didn't do any Assaults last week. I did do another Odin run and got the earring with 7 ATT and 3 Store TP (bye bye spike earring). I tried to get another amulet so that I could get the torque but I ended up dying 3 times which pissed me off so I stopped. I'm going to toss the link to episode 22 here at the bottom. I should have put it up a week ago but hey, I'm me.

New episode in the morning

Just got through recording another show. I don't have time to edit it before work so I may do it when I get home or after I wake up.

March update is here kinda

So, the March update of 2010 hit today, well yesterday technically but the game was pretty much down all day. I logged in this morning to check out the new content but of course I see a message saying there will be maintainace in an hour, yay! I figure I might aswell get Castle Zhval(s) and Zhval Keep unlocked. I'm on WHM so I just recall to the past and arbiter warp out to Xarcabard. I don't make it but a few steps before I get imp aggro, so I sleep that, teleport to my home nation, then go back out there and try again. I got a little lost but I ended up finding my way with little difficulty. I had to raise a couple of people, a JP SAM (or atleast he was in askar), and "Nobody messes with" Zahan, who had a nice train of mobs following him up the steps to the castle.

I was pretty worried when I entered cuz' you see a bunch of imps in the sky but they seem to just be decoration (I steered will clear of them to be safe). I tried to run the usual way to get to the keep but the bottom floor is flooded with some red substence, taru blood perhaps? So, I run back down the main path where you spawn Dark Spark and at first I'm terrified cuz' it's full of mobs but then I realize that they all have campaign swords over their heads and just run past. I made it up to the keep with about 13 minutes left before the game went down so I figured I'd run up the throne room before I logged. Sadly a bunch of gargoyles were blocking the way so I paused not knowing if I should try another way or just give up. A minute or so later a BLM runs in and opens the door leading to the mobs and they aggro him, confirming to me that I won't be able to get to the throne room without a party. I was all ready to raise him but he sleep the mob and zoned.

Failing that I figured I might have just enough time to check the Trial of Magains quest thing out. So, I went to Jeuno. I checked out the new NPC that sends you off to fight Abyssea monsters, quickly determined that was wasn't messing with that crap, then headed to the moogle in upper jeuno. I was disappointed in SE right away because they gave the illusion that you'd be able to trade whatever you wanted but in actuality you have to get specific weapons from the moogle (or trade your mythic if you have it) and you can only get specific upgrades predetermined by SE. LAME!!! I didn't have time to check out all the possibilities for the weapons I might upgrade cuz' I ended up getting booted before I had to chance.

Sadly by the time maintainence is over I'll have to head off to work so I won't be able to check anymore stuff out today. I'll probably record a show about this update in a few days. Speaking of shows...here are links to the past few.

Episode Sixteen: I'm The King of The Pirates!

What's this you say? A real blog post!? Indeed good sir, indeed. So I've pretty much just been working on my COR. It's at 52 right now and almost 53. I may try and finish that up before I go to bed tonight but probably not. I'm not sure if I've even done a proper blog post on here since I last picked COR back up but I've been messing with it for a few weeks now. I'm having an extremely hard time getting parties during the week but on weekends it's been a piece of cake. Pretty frustrating because I've currently only been having Sundays off so I pretty much blow my only free day playing FFXI ><. But videogames are more important then real life so I'm doing okay.

I'm currently not sure how far I'm going to go on COR at the moment. I want to take it to 75 but I currently only have 14k gil on me and I'm missing two dice. Not to mention the iron bullets that I'm using are 100k a stack. I'm really starting to see why COR is so expensive that it's taking longer to gain levels so I'm throwing away more gil each party. Granted I can always take the lazy route and just not fire any bullets if it comes to it. Speaking of lazy I partied with the worst BRD I've ever seen today, Baisino. Dude would only cast two songs and said two songs would be cast on the whole party. Apparently walking two feet back to cast ballad on the RDM was just too much to ask. Dude, claimed nobody had complained about how he was playing before. I find that hard to believe yet at the same time he is a BRD so it isn't too suprising that people wouldn't kick him even though he was crap. Me personally if I get a BRD, COR, RDM, ect, in my party and they refuse to play properly, I look for a rep and kick them. I haven't made a party in forever (minus the one I made today) but I've had to give at least one RDM the boot before.

Aside from leveling I'd done the usual Dynamis & Nyzul Assaults. I've received WHM legs, DRK legs, THF head, and PLD feet recently in Dynamis. I was hoping for THF hands in my next Xarcabard run but it appears there are a few other people going for it so unless 2-3 drop (yeah, right) I'm gonna up empty handed (no pun intended). Nyzul wise I tried to get my Askar legs and Denali hands but I've come up short. The Denali hands dropped twice but I was out lotted both times...

I attempted my first SMN burn party recently. It was a total failure. Half us had no clue on what to do and ended up astral flowing the wrong mobs and getting ourselves killed. It was an interesting attempt at least and I hope I get a chance to attempt it again in the future.
